| Papilio rutulus rutulus, aka Western Swallowtail |
Here is today's insect...poor thing is begging me to stop with the camera, already. It is in its fifth instar and desperately looking for a safe place to pupate for the coming winter. I helped it along by placing it in the grasses near some large trees that will offer shelter from the frosty winds. When I went back a couple of hours later it was nowhere to be found.
Good luck little guy, the ravens were swarming today...what do they know that we don't? This little creature had a personality and great determination. I think I spent about half an hour photographing it. Very interesting.
